How Do I Get Involved?

Grainery Care is not a place for spectators. It is a place for team members. Whether you are a five-year old child, an eighty-five year old grandmother, a busy mom, or a businessman with big responsibilities, we want you to be a part of our vibrant care community. Here is how you can learn, serve, and grow at Grainery Care.

Small Group

Often, small groups of people are better able to interact, bring about life change, and learn about a topic than larger groups are. For that reason, Grainery Care has small groups meeting for such things as Art Therapy and personal development. The size of the group is anywhere from three to twelve. At a time, designated by your group, you can participate or lead in the small group context. For more information call Paul West at the Grainery on 49695557

Response Ministry

The African Australian community in Newcastle is strong and vibrant, yet in need of help to settle in their new land. To help in the Homework Club (Hope Learning Centre), as a partner in our Family to Family Partnership program, or to donate to help support the re-uniting of our members with their families still in Africa contact Paul on 49695557

Food Care/Community Dinners

Many hands are needed to  maintain the property, cook meals or just to sit with people and make friends with them over a cup of tea. To offer your help, drop in at the Grainery Care Centre, 58 Maitland Rd, Mayfield during our opening hours – Wednesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, or call the shop on 49674777
As a registered charity Grainery Care relies on tax-deductible donations and fundraising to keep the doors open and the support flowing! If you would be willing to plan and run a fundraiser, or even to turn a few sausages at our Bunnings BBQ’s, please contact us for a chat
Grainery Family Centre

What an exciting launch the Family Centre has had this year! Courses/groups so far have included Thrive, Restore, Marriage Enrichment, Marriage Preparation, GriefShare and Divorce Care. At the moment we have Divorce Care and GriefShare support groups and the Alpha Parenting Course – 0 to 10 Year Olds. We have seen people come to faith, seen marriages blessed, individuals overcoming and growing in their faith and in their ability to build solid relationships with family, and several couples prepared for a rich and rewarding marriage. You may attend a group or perhaps help with organisational aspects or promotion or even train as a facilitator.

Bus Drivers/Maintenance

Got a good driving record? Not on your “P” plates? Driven a 12 seater bus before? You might like to apply to become a driver of the Grainery Care bus, or to keep it clean and well maintained.

Church Involvement

If you would like to experience a contemporary Christian church, or an International Service with an African flavour, why not come along to the Grainery celebrations/services: 8:30am, 10am and 6:30pm on Sundays?
